These Tenants Are Leading the Largest

Rent Strike in LA History

Los Angeles’s housing market is in crisis. Low-income communities of color across the city are facing mass displacement. On Burlington Ave. in the city's Westlake District, one landlord has raised rents on nearly 200 families by up to 40% while the building remains in a state of extreme disrepair. And in response the Burlington tenants have initiated the largest rent strike in LA history. This is their story.
